New “Green Paper” Reports the Advantages of Purging with Commercial Purging Compounds (CPCs)
In controlled laboratory tests to measure the effectiveness of purging methods on injection molding machinery, Purgex lowered purging costs, reduced scrap rates,
cut downtime, and decreased the amount of material used compared to purging with resins.
Tests were conducted using five common resins (PP, HDPE, PS, ABS, and Nylon 6,6) and demonstrated how Purgex can help processors meet both economical
and environmental challenges in a more competitive global environment.

Summary of Results

Whether measuring purging time, number of parts rejected, amount of material used, or unit purging costs, Purgex outperformed all resins by significant margins.
According to the report, the overall impact for processors can be seen in greater productivity and competitiveness, while helping them meet “green goals.”
Example of Test Results - Purgex vs. HDPE

When purging to change from Black High-Density Polyethylene to Natural High-Density Polyethylene, the cost savings per purge using Purgex is $20.77 while downtime is reduced by more than 25 minutes. As the study shows, the higher the cost of HDPE, the greater the savings when using Purgex.
